March 28-April 2nd 2022
We had a very eventful week.
The kids helped me clean the house, do their school work and pack for our quick weekend get away to St. George. I wanted to beat the spring break traffic. Not sure we did though.
Day 1 in St. George I took the kids shopping and we went to the Thunder Junction park with splash pad and we also road the train. The kids had so much fun! And the girls all said they decided they loved to go clothes shopping. We ate pretzels and ate dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant!
Day 2 we woke up to some sad news. My Mom called and said she found one of our chickens dead in the coop. She tried forcing them in a few nights before and heard a loud banging on the door, we think she scared them so much one of them ran into the side so hard her neck broke. We were heart broken and so shaken, we weren't sure whether to come home or finish out our weekend. We decided to stick with our plans and went hiking at the Red Cliffs, it was a few miles hike round trip, the kids worked hard and did it! The trail ends at a waterfall pool, the pool was there, but no waterfall. The kids spent several hours playing in the pool and making new friends. We stopped to learn about the 'Adam's House' the man who settled that area near Leeds. We learned how he farmed and how he fed the miners who came to live near there as well, to mine for silver.
Nelly wasn't feeling well by this time and Sunday morning we headed home. Listening to General Conference on the way.
It was such a hard week, and I wasn't sure if leaving was the best idea. I hope the kids had some experiences they'll remember and I hope they learned something from it all. But, that is what I hope every week.
